Actor Michael Douglas, 76, has paid tribute to his stepmother and wife of late actor Kirk Douglas following her death at the age of 102. The Hollywood actor memorialised his stepmother in a moving tribute as she died a year after his dad, Hollywood star and director Kirk, aged 103.
She brought out the best in all of us, especially our father
Michael credited his stepmother for the career his father went on to have.
In a statement to People, he said: “Anne was more than a stepmother, and never ‘wicked.’
“She brought out the best in all of us, especially our father.”
He continued: “Dad would never have had the career he did without Anne’s support and partnership.

“Catherine [Zeta-Jones] and I and the children adored her; she will always be in our hearts.”
The film publicist died peacefully at the home she shared with her husband of 66 years, in Beverly Hills, California.
Her cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Six days ago actor Michael took to Instagram to wish Anne a happy birthday as she turned 102.

Posting a sweet snap of his family including wife Catherine, their two children, his father, Kirk, and stepmother Anne, Michael wrote a sweet caption.
He penned: “Happy Birthday Anne Douglas! We love you! Michael, Catherine, Carys, & Dylan.”
Anne’s death comes a year after her husband, Kirk, died.
The Spartacus actor had been in good health since suffering a stroke in 1996 at the age of 79, which impaired his ability to speak.

The Hollywood star died at the age of 103 on February 5 2020 and his cause of death was kept private.
Anne and Michael met in 1953, but it was later revealed that she turned down his advances, as she was still married to first husband Albert Buydens and Douglas was engaged.
However, after working together, their relationship blossomed.
The couple married in Las Vegas and had two sons Peter and Eric.
Following a career as an actor and comedian, Eric tragically died of an accidental drug overdose in 2004.
Anne devoted her time to philanthropic work, including founding the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the Los Angeles Mission and co-founding The Douglas Foundation with Kirk.
She also-founded the Cedars-Sinai Research for Women’s Cancers.
Anne leaves behind son Peter, stepson Michael and Joel, daughters-in-law Catherine and Lisa, grandchildren Cameron, Dylan, Carys, Kelsey, Tyler, Jason and Ryan, great-grandchildren Lua Izzy and Ryder, and sister Merle.
