Businesses with an online store created on the Wix.com platform may now collect payments in person using the iPhone’s Tap to Pay feature. The function, which goes live in 2022, enables contactless payments between iPhones. The transactions don’t require additional point-of-sale hardware from businesses like Square or Clover.

During checkout, consumers can tap their iPhone, Apple Watch, credit card, or another contactless payment method on the store owner’s iPhone. The same NFC technology that powers Apple Pay will be used to complete the transaction securely.

Wix.com says over 700,000 online retailers will use its platform by 2021.
