Morocco’s Competition Council said it fined Swiss construction chemicals manufacturer Sika 11.7 million dirhams ($ 1.2 million) for failing to consult with regulatory authority Moroccan on the acquisition of the French Dry Mix Solutions, another building materials company.
The council added in a declaration that “Sica”, activates in 101 countries, including Morocco, did not notify her and did not receive her approval to acquire Dry Mix Solutions.
The Moroccan regulator stated that “Sika” agreed to pay the fine.
It was the first time that the Moroccan regulator, who had been stopped for years, sanctioned a company for not respecting the country’s competition law.
According to the documents of the European Commission, in 2019 Sica completed the acquisition of Dry Mix Solutions, operating under the name Parkes.
