Mortal Kombat 11-Crossplay for PS4 and Xbox One
A surprise update to Mortal Kombat 11 will bring cross-game support for the game, but the feature is currently limited to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NetherRealms fighting game. NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment state that they are testing the ability to add players to a cross-platform matchmaking pool for online brawling.
The feature is not live yet, but when enabled for Mortal Kombat 11, Crossplay is limited to online Kasual game modes and available in certain Krossplay online rooms. According to NetherRealm, the crossplay is currently in beta.
According to the Frequently Asked Questions about WB Games’ Mortal Kombat 11, this works as follows:
If a player has Krossplay enabled, they can play against other players on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One in two ways:
Whenever players reach a match in Online Kasual mode, the game is now looking for the best match for potential PlayStation 4 and Xbox players.
The selected Krossplay online rooms provide PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players with a central place to manually meet and fight other players on opposite platforms in online Kasual game modes. Please note that friends on opposite platforms need coordination outside of the game ecosystem before meeting up in a particular cross-string online room to play against each other.
According to WB, the Krossplay feature of Mortal Kombat 11 currently does not support Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch or Windows PC. MK11 will be part of a growing suite of games that support cross-platform gaming, including Rocket League, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
