Muscat Arab Stock Exchange: Meets the requirements to join the emerging markets index by 2023

Haitham Al-Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange, said the financial market aims to meet the requirements to join emerging market indices in the FTSE Russell Index by 2023.

He added in an interview with Al-Arabiya that the stock exchange aims to increase the percentage of foreign ownership in the market within these requirements, to rise between 49% and 70% in the market, compared to the current 14.5%.

He continued: “We are negotiating with currently listed companies to increase the percentage of foreign ownership in they. Some of these companies already have foreign ownership rates that reach this target percentage, but we aim for this percentage to reach the market in general. “
