The month of August 2021 sees the debut of a cooking show with a dash of comedy and a highly anticipated drama series. But before we dive into what’s coming in August 2021, let’s look at July 2021!
Which July 2021 releases were your favorite? I have to place Outer Banks season 2, Virgin River season 3, and Never Have I Ever season 2 in my top three July 2021 favorites. You’ll notice that these three are returning shows with new seasons, and August 2021 looks a bit different.
For our top five recommendations, we are sticking with brand new series premieres, so let’s get right to it! Here are five Netflix shows not to miss.
Best Netflix shows
1. Cooking with Paris season 1
I’m not ashamed to share that I’m really looking forward to watching Cooking with Paris! She may not be a trained chef, but she’s not trying to be one. She knows she can’t cook and is inviting us into her kitchen to witness wins and fails.
Paris will also have celebrity friends join her! Who knows? We may learn a thing or two ourselves.
Cooking with Paris premieres on Netflix on Aug. 4, 2021.
2. The Kingdom season 1
For all drama-mystery fans, The Kingdom may be your next favorite! The series follows a religious leader about to become president after his presidential front-runner is killed. But things change when the murder is investigated.
Watch The Kingdom on Netflix on Aug. 13, 2021.
3. Valeria season 1
Love friendship and all things love? Don’t miss Valeria! The comedy-drama follows Valeria, a writer going through writers block and issues with her husband. But it’s nothing Valeria and her best friends can’t help with. Right?
Valeria premieres on Netflix on Aug. 13, 2021.
4. The Chair season 1
Sandra Oh stars as Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the new Chair of the English department at Pembroke University, a prestigious school. Not only is this a new position for Ji-Yoon, but she’s also the first woman to chair the department. The Chair will follow Ji-Yoon as she navigates her way through different challenges.
The new series premieres on Netflix on Aug. 20.
5. Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo
Marie Kondo is back in a new series! This time, we’ll follow as Marie changes the lives of many others by teaching them how to spark joy in their lives. Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo will also give us a more intimate look into Marie’s life, including meeting her family and how she sparks joy in her daily routine.
Watch Marie Kondo and feel inspired on Aug. 31.
