It’s time to wake up the members of your nation because iCarly is back and better than ever. The highly anticipated revival of the hit Nickelodeon teen series premieres this summer and reunites fans with the gang you know, love and have missed.
iCarly first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2007 and signed off the air in 2021 after a nearly 100-episode run. Even though fans of the quirky teen comedy probably weren’t expecting a revival series starring most of the original cast, Carly Shay is back online.
Miranda Cosgrove returns as the titular Carly, having sidelined her popular eponymous webshow in favor of a move to Italy with her father and attending college. But she’s back in Seattle, living in the same building as Spencer (Jerry Trainor) and Freddie (Nathan Kress), and ready to log back on.
If you have been binge-watching the original iCarly on Netflix, you are probably wondering if your nostalgic rewatch will continue with the revival. Here’s all the details you need about the new iCarly, including if the continuation series will come to Netflix.
Is the iCarly revival coming to Netflix?
Unfortunately, it’s not looking like the revival series will be available to stream on Netflix. Because it’s an exclusive show to the new streaming service Paramount+, it’s unlikely that the revival will make the leap over to Netflix, even if the original is streaming there, too. The new series premieres on Paramount+ on June 17.
iCarly revival cast
As previously mentioned, Miranda Cosgrove reprises her titular role as Carly Shay, now a college graduate living with her new roommate and best friend Harper (Laci Mosley). Also, reprising their roles are Jerry Trainor as Carly’s older brother Spencer and Nathan Kress as Carly’s best friend and right hand man Freddie.
We’ll see a few familiar faces pop up in the revival, such as Freddie’s overbearing mother Marissa, Nevel Papperman, Nora Dershlit and many more. Jaidyn Triplett plays Freddie’s young stepdaughter Millicent, who will definitely have an influence on the new iCarly webshow.
Why did Sam leave iCarly?
The only main cast member not returning to the revival is fan-favorite Jennette McCurdy as Carly and Freddie’s feisty best friend Sam. McCurdy opted not to reprise her role in a conscious effort to take a step back from acting, though Sam will still get brief mentions in the revival.
Sam’s absence will be explained in the first episode of the new series, and it’s very much in line with what you would expect Sam to be up to in 2021. While fans will miss her, and Netflix subscribers will miss the new iCarly, the revival can’t be missed.
