The Disney Plus series Loki introduced the Multiverse officially to the MCU, leaving open a lot of possibilities, including the return of the Netflix Marvel characters. This has lead to widespread speculation, and one of the things many fans are wondering at this point is whether or not there will ever be a Luke Cage season 3 on Netflix or anywhere else.
There are rumors Daredevil will return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jessica Jones will potentially be back in She-Hulk, The Punisher is rumored to get an R-Rated Hulu series, and Kingpin might be making an appearance in the Hawkeye series. But with all of this speculation about those Netflix Marvel characters, one has to ask what does the future hold for Mike Colter’s Luke Cage.
Cage, who also plays Locke in the Halo video game franchise, has been quite busy since he played the Marvel hero in the Netflix original show. His biggest claim to fame is starring in the supernatural crime thriller Evil, which is airing its stirring second season and has already been renewed for a third chapter.
Evil has done rather well on Netflix and is a very popular series on Paramount+. But there is no arguing fans would rather see him go bulletproof to stop villains once again. Fans of the show would love a Luke Cage season 3 to happen sooner rather than later. The fact that Kevin Feige claims the characters could return bodes well for Cage’s comeback.
How many seasons of Luke Cage are there?
There are two well-crafted seasons of Luke Cage available to stream on Netflix. Each set of the Netflix show’s episodes consisted of 13 entries, each coming in at around 44-69 minutes in length.
Is there going to be a season 3 of Luke Cage?
The show had received significant acclaim and was a heavy favorite among subscribers. But Netflix ended up canceling all of the live-action marvel shows, including Luke Cage, which got the ax on October 19, 2018.
Unfortunately, at this time, there aren’t any official plans moving forward at this time for Luke Cage season 3. The actor did claim he was disappointed and frustrated at the cancelation of these series and expressed his views on the matter when he sat down with Collider for an interview:
There were so many places we could have taken it. There’s obviously the Alias series where Jessica and Luke had a child and had this adult life they were trying to live, and there’s this moment where they are working out their blue-collar, making ends meet life together, which is very interesting. There’s the journey that Luke had in his own series with Harlem’s Paradise, where he’s taken over the club and is he gonna be a bad guy or a guy that is on the other side of the law, and who’s gonna stop him. That was another interesting thing to watch, with him maybe being a little gangster, and that would’ve been cool too.
It’s pretty clear Colter has some unfinished business with the character, so if Feige wants him back and he isn’t obligated to solve the supernatural mysteries on Evil, fans may very well get their Luke Cage season 3 at some point in the future. Where it calls home will be an exciting mystery to speculate on, and whether it is Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+, fans will most assuredly welcome the return of Power Man any way they can get it.
How many episodes of Luke Cage season 3 are there?
An official episode count for the potential third chapter of Luke Cage has not been revealed, and this information will not be disclosed until the announcement is made that the next run is officially happening. As far as an estimation as to the number of entries the Marvel show can have, it will entirely depend on where the series lands should it be continued.
If Luke Cage season 3 airs on Netflix, it could very well have 13 episodes like the previous two. If it goes to Hulu, one would assume an eight to ten count would suffice. And like Loki or The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, six entries would be very likely should the next chapter of the Power Man saga continue on Disney+.
When is Luke Cage season 3 filming?
It is hard to determine when Luke Cage season 3 will start shooting at this point. The character wasn’t one of the many that are on the way in the next phases of the MCU, but that could always change. It will be interesting to see when and where Cage returns if he is to do so at all.
But when he does, and more information comes out regarding Luke Cage season 3, an estimation towards a timetable regarding the Marvel show’s production schedule will be easier to figure out.
Luke Cage season 3 release date predictions
No official release date or premiere spot has been put out for Luke Cage season 3, and it may be a long while before that knowledge comes to light. If one had to guess, the earliest it could arrive is probably 2023 or 2024, as Marvel shows take some time to develop, shoot and release.
This is just speculation at this time, but if you stay tuned to Netflix Life, we will be absolutely sure to keep everyone updated on the Luke Cage season 3 release date and more as it comes out.
