Netflix releases this week: What is coming to Netflix UK from June 7-13?

This week, Netflix’s release schedule is a little bit more sparse than the usual fare. However, fans should get excited as much of that which is coming to the platform is original content, which is always worth watching.

Awake is a Netflix original movie which is another disaster film, but this time with a very different concept than some which have been released previously.

The official synopsis reads: “After a global event wipes out humanity’s ability to sleep, a troubled ex-soldier fights to save her family as society and her mind spiral into chaos.”

The movie stars Gina Rodriguez and Ariana Greenblatt.

Skater Girl

The official synopsis for Skater Girl reads: “When a teen in rural India discovers a life-changing passion for skateboarding, she faces a rough road as she follows her dream to compete.”

While this is a slightly strange premise for a movie, it is heartwarming and full of life.

The filming took place in Khempur, Rajasthan, the same place as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, but they built a full size skatepark for the movie.

Tragic Jungle

The official synopsis for Tragic Jungle reads: “To escape an arranged marriage, a woman flees into the depths of the Mayan jungle, where untamed nature merges the human and the supernatural.”

The film is a Mexican period movie and stars Indira Andrewin in the main role.

This one is a real thriller, full of chilling suspense, so one to watch from behind a cushion.

This is another thriller, though not a Netflix Original movie.

Strange But True stars Greg Kinnear, Margaret Qualley, Amy Ryan and Nick Robinson and has a rather strange concept, but one which is pretty frightening to think of.
