Netflix: Shaman King release date, cast, synopsis, trailer, and more

Shaman King is a classic anime that definitely shows the newer generation series how it’s done.

Admired for its awesome arcs, epic character transformations, and its impressive fight scenes, this anime is a fan favorite, and it’s no wonder that it caused an uproar when it was announced to return after two decades.

Shaman King‘s 2001 debut left viewers hungry for more and many years later, their prayers have finally answered as its 2021 reboot is even more exhilarating than its predecessor. Everything to know about the upcoming Netflix release is included down below.

Shaman King release date

The 2021 reboot of Shaman King was released in Japan in April 2021 and it will conclude its Japanese run later this summer.

Netflix has since acquired the streaming rights for the series, meaning fans of the anime will get to watch every episode on Netflix when it debuts in the United States.

As of right now, there is no official Netflix release date for the reboot, but we’ll be sure to let you know once a date is eventually announced.

Shaman King cast

The great news for fans is that the original Shaman King cast is reprising their roles in the new follow-up series.

The 2011 cast of Shaman King features Danganronpa voice actress Yoko Hikasa returning to her role as Asakura Yoh, Megumi Hayashibara as Kyoyama Anna, Romi Paku as Tao Ren, Inuko Inuyama as Oyamada Manta, Masahiko Tanaka as Umemiya Ryunosuke, and The Seven Deadly Sins actor Katsuyuki Konishi as Amidamaru.

Additionally, Kousuke Takaguchi, who voices Muscular in My Hero Academia, stars in the role of Bason in the reboot.

Shaman King synopsis

Shaman King tells the story of Asakura Yoh and his journey to becoming the titular shaman king—a position of power only held by those who wield immense strength and skill against the spirits that lurk in the world. However, becoming the king is no easy feat.

Asakura must compete in the Shaman Tournament, where he goes head-to-head against those who seek the throne just like he does. The road to power comes with highs and lows but in the end, it’s up to Asakura to decide what’s worth fighting for.
