CNN kept blaming “a car” for the mass killing at the Waukesha Christmas Parade, even though many news sites were criticized for doing so. The driver of the car was black and a murder suspect.

Six people were killed and more than 60 were hurt when Darrell Brooks plowed into an SUV during a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, last week. Brooks is a repeat offender. Brooks was arrested and charged with six counts of murder, but news outlets that have covered the massacre have made it a point not to name the suspect. Instead, they have blamed the car and called the killing spree a “crash” or a “accident.”

Because conservatives were so angry, the Washington Post deleted a tweet last week that called what happened a “tragedy caused from an SUV.” CNN, on the other hand, has not changed its stance. The network said in a tweet about a memorial event in Waukesha on Sunday that the city was “marking one week from when a car went through a city Christmas parade.”

Brooks was only called the “suspected driver” in the last line of the article.

The tweet was met with disgust and ridicule from people on the right right away. “Are we going to do it ever?” Know what drives Carla? What did he do? car post on Facebook or Twitter? What kind of background did the car have?” Former US diplomat Alberto Migues Fernandez sarcastically joked.

“Waukesha SUV accused of six counts of murder” read a title on an article by The Babylon Bee, a conservative satirical outlet.

The killings are still being looked into by the Wisconsin police and the politicians. People have already said that the media is trying to take the spotlight off of Waukesha. Wisconsin Senators Tammy Baldwin (D) and Ron Johnson (R) released a joint declaration on Saturday pleading “outside individuals or groups” not to “exploit the tragedy” for political gain. There were no other information given.
