Winter Palace: A New Costume Drama on Netflix
Are you a fan of costume dramas? Shows like Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, and The Empress, which are all available on Netflix, have captivated audiences. And now, Netflix has exciting news for fans of this genre – a new costume drama called Winter Palace is in the works.
About Winter Palace
Winter Palace takes us back to the early 20th century when winter tourism in the Alps was gaining popularity. This Netflix costume drama tells a true story about the ambitious hotelier, André Morel, who aims to build a luxury five-star hotel in 1899 and keep it open throughout the winter season. Morel teams up with the wealthy British aristocrat Lord Fairfax, although he must use his persuasion skills to win him over. Together, these two affluent individuals face demanding customers, rebellious staff, and a harsh climate – all in pursuit of their grand dreams.
A combination of English and French
Winter Palace is a collaboration between Netflix and the Swiss channel RTS. As Switzerland is known for having three official languages – French, German, and Italian – it’s not surprising that the new Netflix show will feature more than one language. The characters will speak both English and French, creating a culturally diverse viewing experience.
Breathtaking Production
Pierre Monnard directs Winter Palace, and Jean-Marc Fröhle is one of the producers. Fröhle shares his excitement about the upcoming show, stating, “We have just secured the perfect shooting locations and are thrilled about the breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary places that viewers will discover. Winter Palace is a grand costume drama with a modern writing style by the talented Lindsay Shapero. The casting process is currently underway in Switzerland, France, and Great Britain, as the series will be filmed in both English and French.”
Release Date on Netflix
You’re probably wondering when Winter Palace will be available on Netflix. Well, it’s not coming anytime soon. The filming is set to commence in Switzerland, and the series is expected to premiere in late 2024. Excitingly, there will be eight episodes for audiences to enjoy!
