Netflix continues to release a plethora of new series, and this fall is no exception. The streaming service has a number of new shows (and new seasons of old shows) in the pipeline, and here are the top ten!
Lupin Part 3 – October 5, 2023
Assane Diop is set to embark on a new adventure in Lupin Part 3, as the events of the first two parts of the series have reached a conclusion. So, something new needs to be devised! Netflix has already released a trailer, giving us a glimpse of the story. This time, Diop sets his sights on the Black Pearl, but that puts his family in danger once again. “Someone has my mother,” we hear Diop say. “If I don’t do it, they’ll hurt her.” It’s going to be thrilling!
The Fall of the House of Usher – October 12, 2023
The Fall of the House of Usher is based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe and is directed by none other than Mike Flanagan. So, get ready for some chills. The story goes like this: the ruthless Roderick Usher and his sister Madeline have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire teeming with wealth, privilege, and power. However, their lives are turned upside down when long-buried secrets come to light. At the same time, heirs of the Usher dynasty begin to meet their demise one by one, all due to a mysterious woman from their childhood.
Bodies – October 19, 2023
Netflix hasn’t forgotten the crime genre with Bodies, a brand-new murder mystery from Great Britain. Viewers will have to puzzle things out, as this miniseries takes place in four different time periods in London and follows the stories of four different detectives. But what do these investigators have in common? They are all investigating the same murder. But how exactly is that possible? To uncover the answer, a bit of Sherlock Holmes-style deduction will be required.
Yaratilan – October 20, 2023
Yaratilan means “creature” in Turkish. The series is set in the final days of the Ottoman Empire and introduces Ziya, a medical student searching for a cure for contagious diseases. Eventually, she crosses paths with Ihsan, a fellow doctor who is both brilliant and insane. But he is also the only one who truly understands Ziya’s ambitions. They conduct a forbidden experiment, but it comes at a high cost. The ancient encryption they attempted to decipher could unleash hell itself.
All the Light We Cannot See – November 2, 2023
Marie-Laure is blind and lives with her father in Paris, right next to the Museum of Natural History where he works as a curator. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris, and father and daughter flee to Saint-Malo in Brittany. However, they carry a secret with them: they have taken the museum’s greatest and most valuable treasure. Meanwhile, Werner Pfennig, who grew up in a German mining town with his sister Jutta, becomes a member of the Hitler Youth. He is sent to the front and ends up in Saint-Malo via Russia, where their stories intersect.
Cigarette Girl – November 2, 2023
Cigarette Girl originates from Indonesia and is based on the novel of the same name by author Ratih Kumala. Dasiyah (played by Dian Sastrowardoyo) is in search of the perfect formula for making cigarettes, and while it may sound like a mundane plot, there is plenty of drama and romance involved!
Ferry the Series – November 3, 2023
In Ferry the Series, we follow the journey of Ferry Bouman, who is just starting his career as an ecstasy producer in the criminal underworld of Brabant. Alongside his brother-in-law Lars, Remco, and Dennis, they battle against drug lord Arie Tack and a notorious motorcycle club to claim their place at the top of the food chain. However, there is a hefty price to pay, as Ferry’s beloved Danielle discovers the dark side of his new business, leading to disastrous consequences.
Obliterated – November 30, 2023
Obliterated comes from the creators of Cobra Kai, so you can expect action with a healthy dose of humor. The series is set in Las Vegas, where an elite Special Forces team has thwarted a deadly threat by locating a bomb. Or so they thought. At the subsequent party, it becomes apparent that the bomb they found was a decoy. The real bomb is still hidden in the gambling city, and time is ticking, just like the bomb itself.
Berlin – December 1, 2023
When we say “Berlin,” you don’t think of the capital of Germany, but rather La Casa de Papel, right? Berlin focuses on the character Andrés de Fonollosa, better known as Berlin. It is a prequel, and of course, the “master thief” is assembling a new gang of criminals. Keila, an electronics specialist, Damián, Berlin’s confidant and a professor of philanthropy, the unstable Cameron, the dedicated Roi, and Bruce, a ruthless action man, are all recruited. And, of course, heists must be carried out.
The Crown – Fall 2023
Season 6 of The Crown will be the final season of this popular Netflix series. The exact storyline is still unknown, but it will likely focus on the end of the 1990s and the start of the new millennium. The romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton may be explored, but the love story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be covered. The golden jubilee celebration of Queen Elizabeth II is also expected to be featured.
