Goodbye, Moesha! The Beloved Teen Sitcom is Leaving Netflix

AsumeTechrs, we have bad news to report. Sadly, the popular teen sitcom Moesha will be leaving our favorite streamer this upcoming July. And we’re not talking about a season or two leaving Netflix. The entire six-season series will be departing the streamer very soon.

Originally ordered as a pilot for CBS, Moesha was later picked up by former television network UPN where it aired from January 1996 to May 2001 for six seasons. It quickly became one of the biggest shows on the network.

Starring Grammy Award-winning singer Brandy Norwood as the titular character Moesha, the show followed Moesha as she navigated through life, juggling school, friendships, and romance while also trying to keep her family together.

William Allen Young, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Countess Vaughn, Lamont Bentley, Shar Jackson, Marcus T. Paulk, Yvette Wilson, Fredro Starr, Ray J, and many others were also in the cast.

When is Moesha leaving Netflix?

The teen sitcom will be leaving Netflix on Monday, July 31, 2023. This means the last day you can watch all six seasons of Moesha on Netflix is July 30. So if you were holding off watching this show, you might want to get to it soon before it departs the streamer.

Why is Moesha leaving Netflix?

Netflix acquired streaming rights to the teen sitcom back in 2020 and released it on Aug. 1, 2020. It looks like the streamer’s licensing deal for the show was only for about three years since it’s about to leave on July 31, 2023. So basically, the licensing deal was up, and that’s why Moesha is leaving Netflix.

Where to watch Moesha next
