On December 7, 2021, Variety reported that Netflix has finally revamped its immensely popular action-adventure-mystery-teen drama series, Outer Banks, for Season 3.
The first season of Outer Banks (April 2020) brought adventure and romance to people in pain during quarantine and the teenage drama, a frothy mix of Romeo and Juliet and The Goonies, forms to make even bigger waves after the second high-octane season released on July 30, 2021, which topped the Netflix Globals No. 1 position of ‘Top 10 Tv Series in English’.
The popularity of the series seemed to guarantee that a Season 3 would be a foregone conclusion and now we know that it is.
Season 2 follows a tight-knit group of local teens (themselves labeled the “Pogues”), played by Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Rudy Pankow, who struggle to come to terms with the deaths of their friends after a scavenger hunt goes awry. However, viewers and characters soon realize that John B (Stokes) and Sarah (Cline) are on the run in the Bahamas and back on the trail of gold, while the stakes for the rest of the Pogues at home quickly escalate. As much as $400 million is at stake when a newly discovered secret reunites the group for a new mission in uncharted waters.
Season 2 also featured Austin North, Drew Starkey, Charles Esten, and Carlacia Grant. Both seasons are currently being streamed on Netflix.
The Outer Banks Cast for the previous 2 Seasons played a role as follows:
- Chase Stokes as John B Routledge
- Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron
- Charles Esten as Ward Cameron
- Madison Bailey as Kiara Carrera
- Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward
- Rudy Pankow as JJ Maybank
- Austin North as Topper Thornton
- Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron
Is Outer Banks coming back for Season 3?
Yes! And that’s not just great news for fans, but for series co-creator Jonas Pate who told Entertainment Weekly in 2020 of his vision for the series: “Ever since we started, we’ve always seen it as something that was probably like a 4 season, maybe 5 season show, but definitely 4 seasons. We have it somehow long arched quite far away. I just hope we have a chance to really tell those stories.”
Is there a trailer released for Outer Banks season 3?
No, Netflix hasn’t released a trailer for the 3rd season yet.
It has not been confirmed, but it is believed that it is still in its early stages. Once filming is completed, a trailer will follow shortly after, likely to be dropped in late spring or early summer, maybe in June or July this year.
When will Outer Banks Season 3 Premiere?
The 1st season of Outer Banks came in April 2020, and Season 2 was released on July 30, 2021, so we can accept a summer release date for Season 3 that might be in June or July.
What is the plot of Outer Banks Season 3?
Created by Shannon Burke and Jonas, and Josh Pate, Outer Banks follows the story of a group of teenagers known as The Pogues.
It revolves around the Outer Banks beach vacation destination in North Carolina, though the show is far from a vacation for the group.
The specific plot of the third season has not been revealed by Netflix, although it will probably address some of the loose threads left by the first and second seasons.
The biggest twist came at the end of the second season when it was revealed that John B’s father (Chase Stokes) was still alive.
Where and How to watch Outer Banks?
Outer Banks is a Netflix original show so the exclusive streaming home is Netflix, where you can currently watch the shows 10-episode 1st season and 10-episode Outer Banks 2nd season.
When is Outer Banks season 3 coming to Netflix in 2022?
Our prediction for when the 3rd season could arrive on Netflix is somewhere between November and December 2022. We’ve come up with this based on how long the previous season took in Shooting and post-production before it landed on Netflix. The second season spent four months in post-production before it made its way to Netflix. So if Shooting started on February 15, then it would probably take between 4-6 months to complete, and then the post-production would take anywhere between 4 months.
Our assumptions are based on the Director Valerie Weiss Instagram’s post shared on February 14. See what he says on February 14, Valerie Weiss, a director for Outer Banks, posted several photos of the cast and crew of the teen series Outer Banks.
