Newspaper: Russians create hundreds of companies in Turkey, but Americans complain!

The Zaman newspaper reported that the number of Russian companies registered in Turkey has risen to 720 companies in the past six months.

The newspaper considered that this was due to the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, against the background of the “military operation in Ukraine.”

In detail, the Turkish newspaper pointed out that in January last year, “only 9 Russian companies were established in Turkey, and in August this number reached 128 companies.”

The total number of Russian companies established in Turkey in 2018 was “about 29 companies, and in 2019 the number decreased to 27 companies to increase again in 2020 to 33 companies. In 2021, the total number of Russian companies established in Turkey was up to approximately 39 companies.”

In this context, it was reported that Russian companies established in Turkey concentrate their activities “in the textile, auxiliary, automotive, logistics, petrochemical, metallurgical sectors.”

Zaman quotes sector officials as saying that “Russians have directed their investments to Turkey because of Western sanctions against Russia and that their trade with Europe is through Turkey.”

Business representatives say, according to a Turkish newspaper, “There are investments in many areas, but this is a dangerous business. The position of the United States in this regard is clear and frank, and they have filed many complaints with the Turkish Ministry of Commerce.” the control of customs crossings has been strengthened, but there is no official decision on this matter. Witness – in case of detection of the presence of Russian companies in Turkish exports, various sanctions may be applied to us.”

Fatih Arguvan, chairman of the board of directors of Inhouse Global, a real estate company, was also quoted as saying that Russian citizens “are actively buying factories and warehouses. Istanbul, Izmit, Bursa, Corlu and Tikrdag. there are Turkish cities that have established factories, and there are those who invest in the tourism sector by buying hotels and companies.

On the other hand, it was pointed out that the Turks fill “the gap caused by the withdrawal of European companies from the Russian market. In May last year, the Turkish shoe company FLO acquired more than 100 stores of the international sportswear company Reebok in Russia. .”
