The NHL is under its annual holiday package until 12:01 am. on December 28. With the Feb. 24 deadline for trading just two months away, teams that don’t bid will target players who want to boost their renter lists.
Here’s a look at five clubs that could soon become early sellers in the commercial market.

Detroit Red Wings
Immersed at the bottom of the rankings, the once-mighty Red Wings have a bigger rebuild ahead of them. First-year general manager Steve Yzerman made some additions early in the season by acquiring Robby Fabbri from St. Louis and Brendan Perlini from Chicago. Given the ongoing difficulties of his team, he could be motivated to start early to throw players who no longer fit his plans.
Unlimited free agents like defenders Mike Green and Trevor Daley are obvious candidates for trade. Andreas Athanasiou Center may be another. is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights, whose output is well below last season’s career, with the best of 30 goals.

New Jersey Divers
After trading last week’s former Taylor Holt Torquay winner with the Arizona Coyotes, Devils GM Ray Shero couldn’t do it. While rejecting the notion that Hall’s trade signaled the start of another rebuild, he could shop for one or two pending UFAs before the trade deadline.
Defenders Sami Vatanen and Andy Greene, along with Wayne Simmonds, fall into this category. There is also a listener Miles Wood could be available. It is signed by 2020-21 with a financial yearly salary of $ 2.75 million.
Alec Martinezhttps: //images.daznservices.com/di/library/sporting_news/65/bc/alec-martinez-getty-112619-ftr_14p4ii0imoh791bhepyyy5hm8q.jpg? T = -1449269266 & w = 500 & quality = 80
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings’ Stanley Cup glory years are well behind them. Efforts at quick fixes, such as the 2018 signing of Ilya Kovalchuk’s aging wing, have failed. Last week, he and Kovalchuk mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
With the Kings needing a long-term rebuild, free agents like Tyler Toffoli, Trevor Lewis and Kyle Clifford could soon hit the trade block. Opponents could come calling for defender Alec Martinez as soon as he returns from injury. Signed through next season with an annual average price of $ 4 million, it will attract interest from teams seeking the depth of blueline beyond this season.
Robin Lehnerhttps: //images.daznservices.com/di/library/sporting_news/45/23/robin-lehner-120819-getty-ftr_1s1u9fq8kue0b12ywlfu7r4wlc.jpg? T = -390964474 & w = 500 & quality = 80
Another former champion who died in difficult times, the Blackhawks’ rebuilding efforts are hampered by the existence of too many veterans who bring costly, almost intact contracts. GM Stan Bowman could be forced to block some outstanding free agents.
Defenseman Erik Gustafsson is not expected to be rewritten and appears regularly at this year’s rumor mill. Bowman will have to choose between re-signing longyearing goalie Corey Crawford or 2019 Vezina Trophy finalist Robin Lehner. One of them could be purchased in the coming weeks.

The Senators of Ottawa
The rebuilding senators are more competitive than expected this season. They are getting good results from talented youngsters like Thomas Chabot and Brady Tkachuk, as well as rehabilitation plans such as Anthony Duclair’s flap.
While the Sens seem to have a bright future, they could be forced to shop for some outstanding free agents. Leading the list is top scorer Jean-Gabriel Pageau, whose speed and two-way skills make him an attractive commercial target for the playoffs. Vaclav Namestnikov center and blueliners Dylan DeMelo and Mark Borowiecki could also be of interest.
