Niantic Introduces User-Created Routes to Pokemon Go, Offering Rewards and New Features

Niantic Announces User-Created Routes in Pokemon Go

Niantic has exciting news for Pokemon Go players! The popular mobile game will soon allow users to create their own walking routes within the game.

How It Works

Players can now design virtual walking paths in their local areas. If other players use these routes, they will receive special rewards.

Creating a Route

To create a route, players will start at a Pokestop and walk to one or several other Pokestops. The best part is that your phone doesn’t need to be open the whole time, so you can enjoy longer walks and hikes while still creating routes.

New Special Research and Zygarde Debut

With the introduction of routes, Niantic will also release new special research tasks. This will give players the opportunity to encounter Zygarde, a highly sought-after Pokemon. Throughout the routes, players can find Zygarde Cells, which are vital components of this powerful Pokemon.

Recent Celebrations and Challenges

Pokemon Go recently celebrated its seventh-anniversary party. As part of the festivities, fan-favorite Pokemon, including Shiny Mew, returned to the game.

Niantic’s Journey

It has been a challenging year for Niantic, the creator of Pokemon Go. They faced setbacks such as closing their LA Studio and laying off over 200 staff members. Despite these obstacles, Niantic continues to strive for success in the gaming industry.

After the phenomenal success of Pokemon Go, which was downloaded over a billion times by 2019, Niantic has not been able to replicate the same level of achievement. Their attempts with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Catan: World Explorers did not meet expectations, and they also had to cancel their planned Transformers game, Heavy Metal.
