TSR mode: Give me two pairs, I need two pairs of Colin Kaepernick’s new Air Force 1, except that the Christmas wish will probably not come true, because Kaep’s new collaboration with Nike would have sold out in a few minutes.
According to Nike, the Air Force 1 x Colin Kapernick is no longer available after today’s North American release in Nike stores and certain retailers, reports CBS News.
The sneaker’s graphics include a portrait of Kaepernick on the back and have a black and white colorway.
“This Air Force 1 season, Nike has teamed up with a group of employees to design an AF1 that connects to their personal lives. Colin has been identified because we think his voice and perspective inspire many generations on and off the field, “said Nike in a statement.
Now, this much-anticipated collaboration comes more than a year after Nike released a moving advertising campaign starring Kaepernick following the controversy over its protest against the national anthem, which was in response to the treatment of black Americans by the police.
Over the summer, Nike decided not to release their Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July shoe, apparently due to objections from Kaepernick, who told the company that the revolutionary-era American flag with 13 white stars and a circle heralded a time when blacks were enslaved and which was appropriated as a contemporary symbol by white nationalist groups.
