The Japanese “Nikkei” index closed in it rose for the fourth consecutive session on Tuesday amid optimism about investment growth in the country’s semiconductor industry.

Topix Index Falls 0.07%

As for the broader Topix index, it fell 0.07% to 2,159.22 points.

Negative Performance of the Nikkei Index’s Titles

The number of titles in loss exceeded those in rise in the “Nikkei” index, whose main shares recorded a performance higher than that of the market in general, amid warm inflows of money from abroad.

Steel Industry Sub-index Records Highest Gains

Of the 33 indices representing various sectors of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the steel industry sub-index was the largest gainer, in up 1.45%, while the insurance company sub-index was the biggest loser, in drop of 1.37%.
