Nintendo’s NES-style Joy Cons receive 50 percent off the holiday
NES-style Nintendo Switch original Joy Con controllers are available at half price for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Starting tomorrow, December 6, you will receive the stylish gamepads for $ 29.99 if you have a Nintendo Switch online account. And if you’re a Twitch / Amazon Prime subscriber and careful, you should already have a year off.
The Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers are available in the Nintendo online shop. The sale runs until 10th January 2020.
The NES Joy-Cons was launched a year ago. They dock on the sides of a Nintendo Switch, just like normal Joy-Cons, though that does make for a weird sight. Nintendo has also explicitly stated that the controllers are only compatible with the collection of classic NES games available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Our test last year also showed that they are somewhat compatible with full Nintendo Switch titles.
Your mileage may vary and probably will be. For those who play Tecmo Bowl, Excitebike or Ice Climber with friends or relatives under the age of 25, they are a blessing and a reminder of the triumphant return of console video games to the US households almost 35 years ago. And of course, the timing of the sale plays a role. Maybe this is a good supply for the hard-to-place video player on your list.
