Nkunku has been sidelined from the France international due to injury

Berlin: It has finally been confirmed that Christopher Nkunku will miss the FIFA World Cup, after the France striker injured his knee in training on Tuesday. Leipzig’s German striker suffered a contusion in a tackle with Eduardo Camavinga who was trying to get the ball and had to call for help off the pitch. Later, it was confirmed that Nkunku would not be able to travel with the national team in Qatar, after tests revealed he sprained his left knee. The French Football Federation sent Nkunku’s medical file to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in so that the French national team, world champions, could call up a substitute. He should be replaced by Wissam Ben Yedder, Moussa Diaby, Morgan Terrier or Randall Kolo Mwani. The French national team, led by coach Didier Deschamps, will travel to Doha on Wednesday. The French national team are in Group D of the World Cup, starting their journey against the Australian national team on 22 November, before facing Denmark and Tunisia. (dpa)
