North Korea announced on Friday that it has launched four strategic cruise missiles towards the sea, in a test which he said “has once again demonstrated the war-making capabilities of the country’s nuclear combat power”.
The test is the latest in a series of test provocateurs who have raised tensions on the Korean peninsula and raised fears that North Korea may conduct its first test nuclear since 2017.
The official North Korean news agency said the four “Hwasal-2” missiles were fired from the vicinity of Kimchik city in North Hamgyong province towards the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.
He added that the missiles traveled a distance of 2,000 kilometers before hitting their targets “accurately”, without specifying what those targets were.
The agency also noted that “the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea has expressed great satisfaction with the results of the test of launch”.
“The test has once again clearly demonstrated the war-fighting capabilities of North Korea’s nuclear combat force, which in each way enhances its ability to launch a lethal nuclear strike against hostile forces,” he said.
