North Korea Conducts Test of Submarine Capable of Nuclear Attack

Pyongyang tested a new submarine this week in capable of launching a nuclear attack in response to the US-South Korea maneuvers, the official North Korean news agency KCNA reported on Friday.

The agency specified that the North Korean army has deployed and tested, during exercises that lasted from Tuesday to Thursday off the coast of South Hamgyong province, a new weapon system whose mission is to “cause a radioactive tsunami on a large scale” through an underwater explosion to destroy enemy ships and ports.

He indicated that this submarine “can be deployed to any coast or port and towed by a surface vessel.”

North Korea launched several cruise missiles on Wednesday, according to the South Korean military, which is currently conducting large-scale joint exercises with the United States.

North Korea considers the maneuvers as prove for an invasion of its territory and has repeatedly warned that it will take “overwhelming” measures in answer.

Washington and Seoul have intensified cooperation in defense matter in the face of growing military and nuclear threats from North Korea, which has led more and more provocateurs test on prohibited weapons.
