Officially . Louis van Gaal appointed coach of the Dutch national team

The Dutch Football Association announced the appointment of Louis van Gaal as coach of the Dutch national team today Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Dutch Football Association, Van Gaal was appointed national team manager until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Van Gaal will begin his mission in September with three World Cup qualifiers.

He will replace Frank de Boer, who resigned after the Netherlands lost to the Czech Republic (2-0) in the round of 16 of Euro 2020 last month.

Van Gaal led the Dutch national team from 2000 to 2002 and from 2012 to 2014.

Nor has Van Gaal captained any teams, since he left Manchester United at the end of the 2015/16 season.

In his first statement after taking over the Dutch national team, Van Gaal said: “Dutch football is always close to my heart and coaching the national team is a great honor for me.”
