Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta reunite for Grease Sing-A-Long, dress up as Sandy and Danny for the first time in 40 years

It’s been more than 40 years since the musical film Grease was released in theaters. But this weekend, stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John got together and dressed in their old costumes for the singing event Meet n ”Grease at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Newton-John went to Instagram to post a photo of her and Travolta behind the scenes disguised as Danny and Sandy. Travolta wore an all-black outfit with a leather jacket, and Newton-John wore the famous yellow cardigan and matching skirt with a white button-down shirt.

“First time in costume since making the film,” wrote Newton-John in the caption. “Very exited!!”

According to People Magazine, Newton-John turned into his famous black satin leggings and his character’s leather jacket at the end of the night. As recently as last week, a video went viral of the 71-year-old man receiving the iconic leather jacket as a gift after an anonymous man bought it at auction for $ 243,000 for the benefit of Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center in Australia.

“The odds of defeating recurrent cancer using new emerging therapies are a thousand times greater than that of someone appearing out of the blue, buying your most famous and expensive icon, and giving it back, what I’m going to do right now, “the unnamed man told Newton-John.

Grease’s superfan has said the jacket is not part of a billionaire’s private collection so he can brag about it at the country club. Instead, he wanted the jacket to be in the hands of its rightful owner. Newton-John says she plans to display the jacket at her Cancer Center.

Newton-John founded his cancer research and wellness center in 1992 after his first battle with the disease. She also beat cancer again in 2013, but in 2017 she revealed that he was back and had metastasized and spread to his bones.

The singer and actress says that she and Travolta have been friends over the years, and he has always been there for her in difficult times. Travolta explained that he and Newton-John share a bond after having enjoyed tremendous success together.

“I crossed it by having a child, in divorce, by losing his sister. She lived through my marriage, my children. It’s wonderful and full of shared memories, “said the 65-year-old.

Newton-John and Travolta not only stayed for the vocals, but they also had a question and answer session with the fans after the film. The duo are also set to participate in two more Meet n ’Grease events this weekend in Tampa and Jacksonville.
