WASHINGTON — The Washington State Department of Health announced Saturday that three cases of the ommicron variant has been found in the state.
The cases were: found in Thurston, Pierce and King counties, and officials said the ages of the patients range from 20 to 39.
The patients are:
- a man in his 30s from Thurston County,
- a man in He is in the twenty from Pierce County, and

Details over the condition of the patients are still unknown.
DOH said yes in the early stages of investigates the cases and does not believe the cases are related met each other. Health officials are still investigating the patients’ travels history.
Little is known clinically so far over the variant, but researchers are working on it to out more.
“We knew it was an issue” of time before ommicron was sequenced in our state, and so we anticipated this very much newssaid Umair A. Shah, MD, MPH, Washington secretary of Health. “We strongly urge people to get vaccinated and get their boosters if soon if possible to maximize their level of protection of any variant.”
Health officials said the best protection against the variant is to get vaccinated and get a booster shot if soon if possible. As well as continue met mask up and avoid busy indoor spaces.
“Even with a highly mutated virus like ommicron, we’re not going back square one of the pandemic,” said Dr. Jeff Duchin, Seattle and King Counties public health officer. “Omicron Can Pose” new challenges that we want need to respond to, but compared met back in the days of the pandemic, we know a lot of more over COVID-19, and we are better prepared for the. We know layered protection work together for maximum reduce risk, and it will remain so for delta and for ommicron if that becomes a dominant species die circulates in U.S community.
“If There’s Room” for improvement in how we are using U.S current tools and strategies, this is a good time to die to make improvements, met especially vaccination and booster doses if prior in qualify, goodindoor quality masks, indoor improvement air quality and avoiding crowded interior spaces along with other COVID-19 prevention measures,” Duchin said.
“We suspected that the ommicron variant in circulation was in U.S region, and now our lab has the first three cases in Washington State by Viral Genome Sequencing in the last 24 hours. During the pandemic it was a huge team effort from the UW Medicine Virology Laboratory, for which: development and implementation of various diagnostic and sequencing assays to detect and confirm the diversity of COVID-19 variants die have surfaced in Washington state,” said Dr. Geoffrey Baird, President of laboratory medicine and pathology at UW Medicine. To date, the lab has diagnosed approximately 3.8 million COVID-19monsters tested.
Government Jay Inslee has released a statement over the variant cases:
“We knew this day was inevitable, but the… good news do we have? more tools at our disposal to fight the virus than at any earlier point in pandemic, and we must continue to protect ourselves and our communities.
“There is still a lot to learn over this variant as scientists around the world keep studying it. It remains net as important as ever to get vaccinated, get a boost, wear a mask and be safe. We cannot give an inch to this virus.
“Be alert for any symptoms – such as fever of fatigue – and mask up in public institutions. We all have the power to keep our communities safe.”
