Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Sunak, whose country has been one of Kiev’s staunchest supporters since the start of the Russian military operation on February 24.
Sunak’s successor, Boris Johnson, was one of the first major Western officials to visit Ukraine in amid escalating fighting with Russia, and has repeated this visit several times over the past few months.
“From the first days of the war, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been the strongest allies,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram today, accompanying the post with a video clip of his meeting with Sunak.
“During today’s meeting, we discussed the most important issues both for our countries and for global security,” he added.
