Oregon vs. Wisconsin Final Score: Justin Herbert’s Heroine Power Rose Bowls Victory

Justin Herbert entered Wednesday with a quick touchdown all year, but scored three times against Wisconsin, leading Oregon to a 28-27 victory in a back-and-forth Rose Bowl.

Herbert led the charge in offense, while Brady Breeze’s safety did a great job playing defense and special teams to help turn the tide. The Ducks surpassed a healthy 322-204 margin, but won the 4-1 turnover battle, marking their last three inactivity turnovers.

Breeze had a key game in two of those gifts, returning a lost puppy for 30 seconds for a touchdown early in the second half and making the game scoring, forcing a fumble with about eight minutes left.

In the ensuing game, Herbert (14-for-20 passing, 138 yards rushing) maintained a reading option, made a man lose and went 30 yards to the end zone. Two discs later, his offense removed the watch down with two clutches first downs in past games.

Wisconsin responded to Herbert’s first blow with a 95 point return from Aron Cruickshank to equalize the game and took a 10-7 lead into the game later in the first quarter. The teams traded scores for most of the night, causing five changes.

Jonathan Taylor’s returning thugs rushed 21 times for 94 yards, fell over the 2,000-yard mark in his career, but had no carry over 18 yards. Wide receiver Quintez Cephus had a touchdown hit shortly before halftime to lead 17-14 into the closet, but Breeze’s rebounding quickly broke that lead.

Wiscontin General Jack Coan (23-for-35 passing, 186 yards, touchdown, interception) thought he had completed a key first below what turned out to be his final move, but was missed by an aggressive interference penalty, and The Badgers put up two games later.

Herbert then froze the game with two breakthrough finishes, securing Oregon’s first win of 2015.
