GENERAL UPDATES

NEW GAME MODE – HERO MASTERY: GAUNTLET

  • The Hero Mastery: Gauntlet is an exciting new co-op game mode that challenges players to work together and protect towers from enemy bots. In this mode, players must collect energy and purchase powerful upgrades to survive all ten rounds. The objective is to focus your skills and earn high scores to compete on the leaderboards. Are you ready to enter the Gauntlet?
  • Gauntlet teams can consist of up to three players and must successfully defend the towers throughout all ten rounds to emerge victorious. Each game is designed to randomize the upgrades, bots, and targeted towers, ensuring that each playthrough feels fresh and unique.
  • The Gauntlet game mode introduces four difficulty levels that significantly impact all aspects of gameplay, including the scoring system. Players can gradually work their way up to the Legendary difficulty and dominate the leaderboards.
  • Athena, the game’s AI, has upgraded the simulation with various new bots, including dangerous elite training bots that present an even greater challenge. Players must be on high alert and utilize their best strategies to overcome these formidable adversaries.
  • Additionally, a Play with AI mode is available for teams to practice with one to three players. Scores and Challenges are not recorded in this mode, allowing players to focus on honing their skills without any pressure.
  • The Hero Mastery: Gauntlet launches with a limited-time event that offers exclusive rewards and challenges. Players will have the opportunity to defend the towers and unlock all the exciting rewards available.

COMPETITIVE PLAY UPDATES

  • Competitive Placements and Overview will now be displayed before Hero Progression at the end of a Competitive Match. This change aims to provide players with a clear overview of their performance in the competitive match before diving into their Hero Progression.
  • A Competitive Rank Range has been added to the scoreboard, allowing players to view the rank range of a match at any time. This information provides players with a better understanding of the skill levels of their opponents and teammates.
  • Modifiers, which are unique features that impact gameplay, can now be viewed outside of the Competitive Overview. Players can access the rank info button on the Competitive Play menu to get more details about the modifiers in play during a match.
  • A new modifier called “Demotion Protection” has been introduced to the Competitive Overview. This modifier notifies players that if they lose another game, they will be demoted to the next lowest division. This addition aims to provide players with clearer information about their division standings and encourage them to strive for consistent performance.

HERO UPDATES

  • This patch primarily focuses on fine-tuning some of the systemic hero changes made in Season 9. Additionally, individual abilities are adjusted to make them feel more impactful, considering the larger health pools of the heroes.

PROJECTILE SIZE UPDATES

  • The global projectile size modifier for travel time projectiles with a speed greater than 50 meters per second has been reduced from 0.1 to 0.075 meters. This adjustment specifically targets the fastest travel time projectiles to reduce the frequency of these projectiles failing to headshot due to hitting the enemy’s chest hit volume first.

ROLE PASSIVES UPDATES

  • The Heal reduction applied by the damage role passive has been lowered from 20% to 15%. The Damage role passive is designed to reduce the potency of in-combat healing, creating a balance between burst and damage over time. However, the developers have decided to experiment with a lower value to alleviate some pressure on tank and support roles. They will closely monitor this change to ensure that the healing reduction remains noticeable.

OTHER HERO UPDATES

  • A new UI element has been added above the player’s first-person health bar to show all active healing status effects, including Anti-Heal, Amplified Healing, and Reduced Healing. This addition aims to provide players with better visibility and understanding of the healing effects currently affecting their hero.

Additionally, Cardiac Overdrive now fills Mauga’s passive overhealth by 100. These adjustments aim to make Cardiac Overdrive more forgiving when used for self-defense, especially when Mauga is low on health.

Pig Pen

  • The vertical knockback on activation of Roadhog’s Pig Pen ability has been decreased by 43%. This adjustment reduces the height at which enemies are launched when Pig Pen is activated, making the follow-up Scrap Gun shot more consistent.

DAMAGE

HANZO

  • The base projectile sizes of Hanzo’s arrows have been increased from 0.075 to 0.1 meters. This change, combined with the general global reduction in projectile size for travel time projectiles with a speed greater than 50 meters per second, maintains Hanzo’s arrow projectile size at a total of 0.175 meters.

BAPTISTE
