Pakistan hit by 4.3 magnitude earthquake

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck Balochistan province in southern Pakistan today, with no reports of loss of life or property. The Pakistan Meteorological and Geological Survey said the quake’s epicenter was at a depth of 45 kilometers northwest of “Jhel Meksi” city, and felt shaken by residents of Balochistan and parts of neighboring Sindh province.

In a related context, snowfall and heavy rain killed at least three people in Afghanistan, including a child, a government spokesman said on Saturday. Severe weather hit nine states in different parts of the country on Friday and Saturday, namely Balkh, Zabul, Faryab, Uruzgan, Nimruz, Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan and Laghman. The snowfall and rain injured seven people, partially or completely destroyed more than 750 homes and destroyed farmland, according to Shafiullah Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management.
