New England appeared in the 10th consecutive first round until defeat, so now coach Bill Belichick will play the Titans in the first round.

Tennessee (9-7) has been in the playoffs for the second time in the last three years, securing a wild-card arrival in the final weekend. Running back Derrick Henry won the NFL rush crown, winning 1,540 yards on 303 carries.

Although they may not have the first round, the Patriots (12-4) still won the AFC East. The defense is one of the best in recent memory. led the league in a number of categories, including points allowed (14.1 per game), yards allowed (275.9 per game) and interceptions (25).
