The company said in a statement that it has “mobilized people and equipment” in response to a “confirmed oil spill in a waterway” in Washington County, about 32 kilometers south of the village of Steel City, Nebraska, as the pipeline transports crude oil from Canada. to refineries in the Midwest and Gulf Coast of the United States, where it is processed into gasoline and other petroleum products.

The company statement added: “The damaged part has been isolated and floating barriers have been deployed” to control the leak, and that “the system remains closed as our crews work effectively to contain and divert the oil,” while emergency response began yesterday.
