Poland’s prime minister warns of country’s transition to euro

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawski said that Poland’s transition to the euro currency, following the example of Croatia, would lead to price chaos and inflation.

“A few days ago, Croatia changed its currency and joined the Eurozone. What is happening in Croatia now? Croats are experiencing a price shock. he added.

According to him, the transition of Poland to the European currency will further stimulate the growth of consumer prices. “Replacing currencies from one to another will not give anything. This can lead to a sharp impoverishment of Polish society. At this stage of development, this can only lead to higher prices and higher inflation.

He pointed out that the difference in economic development with the richer countries of the European Union will not allow Poland to easily switch to the European currency.

He continued: “After Croatia joined the eurozone, you started hearing voices that Poland should follow Croatia’s example. Today we see very clearly and most Poles clearly understand the risks associated with a situation where there is such a big difference in the level of economic development between Croatia, for example Poland, and the main countries of the Eurozone… the inflationary chaos that the Croats are talking about is a very serious warning for us.”
