President Aramco: We expect the Jafurah field to produce nearly two billion feet a day of gas

Aramco’s president and chief executive, Amin Nasser, predicted the field would produce nearly two billion cubic feet per day of gas by 2030.

Al-Nasser added that developing the Jafurah field would save the Kingdom from burning half a million barrels a day for electricity generation.

For his part, the Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, said that the project for the development of the Jafurah field will not cost the state budget more than 5-6 billion riyals.

Aramco has been awarded contracts for the development of the Jafurah field on Schlumberger and Halliburton.

Interestingly, the Jafurah basin extends over a ‘area of 17,000 square kilometers and its gas resources are estimated at 200 trillion cubic feet.

In Dhahran, a ceremony was launched to begin development work on Saudi Aramco’s unconventional Al-Jafurah field, which is the largest non-associated gas field in the Kingdom. Development work in this field aims to expand Saudi Aramco’s integrated gas portfolio.

The Jafurah field, one of the largest in the world, is expected to contain 200 trillion cubic feet of gas and Aramco expects production to start in 2024.
