Putin: The liberation of Donbass and the achievement of Russia’s security is the ultimate goal of the military operation in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the liberation of Donbass, the protection of its people and the achievement of Russia’s self-security are the ultimate goal of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

Putin stated, in a press conference on the sidelines of the sixth Caspian Summit held in Ashgabat, that “the ultimate goal is what I set on February 24, which is to free the Donbass, protect these people within it and create conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself , stop”.

He stressed that the work to achieve the goal continues in quiet and rhythmic way.

He added that “the Russian army is moving and reaching the lines drawn to achieve the goal of combat operations, and everything is going according to plan”.

He pointed out that the military operation in Ukraine is not limited in time, noting that the objectives of the military operation have not changed and it is possible to change “tactics”.

During his visit in Turkmenistan, in denouncing what he described as NATO’s “imperial ambitions”, President Putin also said that Moscow has no problem with Finland and Sweden joining NATO.

He added that Moscow has no problems with Sweden and Finland like it does with Ukraine.
