Putin Warns Ukraine: Depleted Uranium Ammunition Will Prompt Retaliation

Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that Moscow will respond to Western supplies of depleted uranium missiles to Ukraine, noting that Russia has many weapons it has not yet used.

Putin said: “I must say that Russia, of course, has something to respond with. Without exaggeration, we have hundreds of thousands, hundreds of thousands of these shells. We haven’t used them yet.”

And Putin felt that those who use such weapons will in fact act against their own people and pollute the cultivated areas.

He stressed that the depleted uranium munitions that the West will send to Kiev are not considered weapons of mass destruction, but release radioactive dust, and therefore are very dangerous.

Deploy tactical nukes

This comes as the Russian president announced that Moscow and Minsk had agreed to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

Putin indicated to the Russia-24 channel that the necessary hangars for these aircraft are in construction in Belarus, and will be ready starting next July.

He stressed that the reason for this step was Britain’s announcement of its intention to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium munitions, noting that Belarus has long been demanding the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on its territory.
