Putin: We are threatened for the second time by German tanks. It’s incredible

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Thursday that Russia is threatened for the second time by German Leopard tanks, adding: “It’s incredible,” referring to the Leopard-2 armored vehicles that Berlin has pledged to supply to Kiev for counter the Russian attack, which the master of the Kremlin once again compared to the war against Hitler. .

Marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad, he said Russia’s response to threats would not be limited to armored vehicles alone, saying: ‘We have what we can do to respond to the West sending tanks in Ukraine”, and added: “Neo-Nazis are back to threaten Russia’s national security”.

He added: “The West wants to fight in Ukraine at the hands of Hitler’s allies by sending Leopard tanks”.

Interestingly, the Battle of Stalingrad (the city’s name has changed to now become Volgograd), which lasted from July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943, was one of the largest battles of World War II during the German military campaign against the Union Soviet, which changed the course of the war.

Tanks from 12 countries

These statements come while Kyiv it secured a pledge this month from a group of Western countries to supply it with tanks to help its forces repel the all-out Russian offensive, with Moscow making huge efforts to achieve gradual progress in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Tuesday his country will receive between 120 and 140 tanks in a “first wave” of shipments from a 12-country alliance.

“The Tank Alliance now has 12 members,” he said in a briefing online.”I can note that in the first wave of contributions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive between 120 and 140 tanks in western style”.

Ukraine intends to launch a major counterattack to recapture large swathes of territory that Russia has captured in the south and east of the country.

The United States has asked Ukraine to delay these plans until Western military aid arrives.
