Putin: We wish Qatar success in organizing the World Cup and are ready to provide support

The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (SICA) held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the Emir of Qatar said that his country has strong and historical relations with Russia, which has provided him with great support in organizing the World Cup, noting that coordination between the two countries will continue.

For his part, the Russian president said that relations between the two countries are developing in significantly, expressing Moscow’s readiness to provide more support to Doha in organizing the World Cup.

Qatari Emiri Diwan claimed – on his own site web – that bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting in various areas, in addition to the latest developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and its repercussions on global food security and the energy market.
