Qatar condemns Dutch authorities’ permission to tear up a copy of the Holy Quran

Qatar has condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the Dutch authorities’ permission to tear down a copy of the Holy Quran in the Dutch city of The Hague, and stressed that this heinous incident is an act of incitement and a serious provocation to the feelings of more than two billion Muslims in the world. Allowing repeated violations of the Holy Quran under the pretext of freedom of expression fuels hatred and violence and reveals a reprehensible double standard.

He further warned that anti-Islam hate campaigns and “Islamophobic” discourse have seen a dangerous escalation with ongoing and systematic calls to repeatedly target Muslims around the world, and in against this background he renewed his call to the international community to assume its responsibilities to reject hatred, discrimination, incitement and violence.
