Qatar Energy is negotiating to acquire 30% of a gas project in Lebanon

Qatar Energy Company CEO Saad Al-Kaabi confirmed today, Sunday, that the state-owned company is in negotiations with the Lebanese government to acquire a 30% stake in aarea offshore exploration, and is also negotiating with Total Energies and Eni in this regard.

Two sources told Reuters last week that Total Energy and the Lebanese government had reached an agreement that gave the French oil giant temporary control of thearea in concession and paving the way for negotiations with Qatar on a stake in the gas project.

“We are discussing it with the Lebanese government and partners, Total and Eni, to share about 30% of the ownership of thearea exploratory, “Al-Kaabi said.” In due course, when we put the finishing touches on and that basically transforms in an agreement, and we sign this agreement, we will announce it. “
