Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Steam next week
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on December 5th on Steam, about a month after its PC debut in three other digital stores.
The game does not yet have a Steam page, but it is likely to be offered at full price when it arrives. Red Dead Redemption 2 uses the new Rockstar Launcher, regardless of where it’s been sold (whether at the Epic Games Store, on GOG.com or elsewhere) and probably for Steam as well. Nevertheless, we turned to Rockstar Games to verify this.
The Rockstar Games Launcher arrived in September. It scans a user’s drive for existing Rockstar PC games and pulls them into his library, including Steam titles. Some gamers have been annoyed about adding another proprietary launcher to their desktops as Rockstars joins the desktops of Epic, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Bethesda Softworks users. One flaw in the Rockstar Launcher – which was quickly fixed – had the unfortunate effect that Grand Theft Auto 5 became an ever-available online game.
We looked at Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PC after its launch on October 26th. It was . not great, from downloading and installing the thing to problems that make the game break, like sudden freezing. Two title updates seem to have offset the freeze due to a conflict with certain hardware combinations. However, another visit to RDR2 last week showed that the game was still inconsistent and frustrating enough to keep us alert.
