His Highness said: “This meeting comes after the International Day for Combating (Islamophobia), which raises awareness of the danger of intolerance against Islam.” Respecting the values of moderation, respect for others and coexistence with them.
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs announced the Kingdom’s willingness to host the international conference on women in Islam, to demonstrate their rights guaranteed by the Sharia and to confirm their active role.
His Highness expressed the Kingdom’s sympathy and sincere condolences to the brothers in Syria and Turkey following the human and material losses caused by the earthquake disaster, emphasizing the Kingdom’s efforts to mitigate the consequences of this affliction by sending urgent aid and organizing a popular campaign for the benefit of those affected.
He called on the international community to play its role in ending the violations by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people and to undermine the chances of reviving the process of pace.
His Highness said: “The Kingdom continues to support the cause of the Islamic world on a humanitarian and development level. Provided a $30 million grant to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund and helped enable His Excellency the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy in Afghanistan to carry out its duties”, adding: “The success of its efforts depends in largely from the support of SCO member states and other countries and international organisations,” he said.
His Highness added: “The Kingdom believes in the importance of religious and neighborly ties that unite us, and always reaches out to dialogue and the resolution of differences through peaceful means. From this point of view, it has led, for more two years, several rounds of dialogue with the brothers in Iran both in Baghdad and in Muscat, and then recently in Beijing, which have culminated in an agreement to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries on the basis of respect for the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, first of all respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, good neighborliness and the resolution of differences through dialogue. I look forward to this agreement enhancing the security and stability of the Gulf Arab region and supporting the process of joint Islamic action.
Dr. Saleh Al-Suhaibani, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Ambassador of the Keeper of the Two Holy Mosques in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Muhammad Al-Balawi, and the Director General of His Highness’ Office the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Rahman Al-Daoud, took part in the meeting with the delegation of the Kingdom.
