Reviving an Ancient Chinese Toilet Design

For the first time in China, archaeologists have discovered an ancient design of a toilet with a trough for purifying water, which is about 2,400 years old.

According to The Chinese Paper, the published photos show that the toilet was left with a stone base of the toilet seat with a sloping trough for flushing water. Also, archaeologists have found pieces of a ceramic pipe for sewerage.

Archaeologists found this ancient toilet while excavating the ruins of the ancient city of Lian, dating back to the Qin Dynasties (246-207 B.C.) and the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.) located in Yanliang District, in the northwest of Shaanxi Province.

According to scientists, this is the first find of its kind in China during excavations of the ruins of ancient palace complexes.
