Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne is preparing for her Broadway debut next month, playing the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago. And, to tease her three-month run, the 48-year-old woman released a parody clip to show what fans can expect.
In the clip, Jayne parodied the musical number Roxie from Chicago. But, in its version, “the name on everyone’s lips will be Erika.” As the song progresses, Jayne goes on stage to sing and dance.
“I’m already a celebrity, which means everyone knows,” sings Jayne. “They will recognize my eyes, my hair, my teeth, my breasts, my nose.”
Relief singers and dancers tell camera that Jayne is swapping her life in Los Angeles so she can sing Roxie, then Jayne sings “It’s expensive to be me” before reaching the climax of the song .
“The girls on Broadway have chills. Because a bitch from Beverly Hills is going to be Roxie Hart, “say Jayne’s lyrics to conclude the musical number.
Comments are already pouring into Jayne’s Instagram page, including that of her RHOBH co-star Lisa Rinna – who starred on Broadway in 2007. She wrote: “OMG !!! That’s all!”
Jayne recently told Page Six that she was thrilled to be part of the legendary Broadway musical. She added that having the chance to play Roxie Hart is a “decadent dream come true.” However, she admits that she will be extremely nervous during the opening night.
Jayne said things are going well at rehearsals at the moment, but on opening night, she “will probably throw up in a bucket off stage.”
Jayne said you can’t repeat Housewives because it’s natural and right now. But, as far as Broadway is concerned, all the hard work comes during rehearsal.
Bravo cameras have followed Jayne in recent weeks as she temporarily relocates to New York for her Broadway debut. And fans will get a chance to see all the behind the scenes when the new RHOBH season is presented in 2020.
Erika Jayne will play Roxie Hart in Chicago from January 6 to March 29 at the Ambassador Theater on West 49th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue in New York.
