Road Safety World Series 2021: India Legends crowned champion; Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh Star in the final

The team led by Sachin Tendulkar, which drove the all-rounders Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh for a sensational half centuries, followed by an excellent bowling performance by the Pathan Brothers (Irfan and Yusuf), won the match with 14 runs.

India Legends defended a total of 181 runs and limited Sri Lanka Legends to 167 for 7 in the designated 20 overs. The Sri Lankans got off to a decent start with the formidable Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya giving the visitors a quick start to the chase. But after Dilshan’s release for 21 on the 8th from Yusuf, the floodgates opened for the Lankers. He sewed a partnership of 62 runs for the first wicket, but the wickets continued to drop periodically after he was fired.

Jayasuriya (43), Chinthaka Jayasinghe (40) and Kaushalya Weeraratne (38) were the only batsmen who showed resistance with a bat during the tricky chase for the Lanker.

Earlier in the day, Yuvraj Singh showed off his exceptional batting again, while Yusuf Pathan also unleashed his beast mode when India Legends scored 181/4 in the Road Safety World Series 2020-21 final here at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (Jan. March).

Tillakaratne Dilshan, skipper of Sri Lanka Legends, won his eighth litter in a row and invited Sachin Tendulkar and his band to hit the Raipur track first.

The Indians didn’t get the start they wanted as Virender Sehwag was bowled cleanly by Rangana Herath for 10 years. S Badrinath (7) was later dismissed in the power game.

Skipper Sachin Tendulkar and the formidable all-rounder Yuvraj Singh stabilized the ship with a partnership of 43 runs for the third wicket. Tendulkar scored 23-ball 30 before being dismissed over on the 11th. But a sensational 83-run stand between Yusuf and Yuvraj helped the hosts to a respectable 181.

Yuvraj slammed 41-Ball 60 into his stroke, which was also laced with four sixes and as many limits. However, Yusuf remained unbeaten at 62 out of 36 deliveries.

Yusuf was named Player of the Game for his all-round show, while Yuvraj was named Cracking Player of the Game. Tillakaratne Dilshan was recognized for his performance as Player of the Tournament.
