Ronaldo leads Portugal against Qatar in World Cup qualifiers

BERLIN: Portugal manager Fernando Santos has revealed that superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will participate in all three matches of the national team during the current international break. This came after Tuesday’s official announcement of the completion of Ronaldo’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United. Ronaldo, five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or as the best player in the world, played in precedence for Manchester United, where he spent a period of success between 2003 and 2009. Amid the noise raised by Ronaldo’s transfer deal, the Portuguese star’s attention quickly shifted to his country, which meets his Irish counterpart later today, Wednesday, in the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Portuguese team will also meet their counterpart from Qatar on Saturday, before visiting Azerbaijan next Tuesday. Santos confirmed Ronaldo’s participation in the three games, in one moment in which the player tries to be unique in the number he currently shares with Ali Daei, as they share the number record of goals in international matches with 109 goals each.
