Russia cuts off gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria

Russian energy giant Gazprom said on Wednesday it had completely cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland due to non-payment of fuel payments in rubles from the two countries.

He stated that supplies would be suspended until payment is made.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Energy said that Sofia paid for the gas delivery for the month of April and the interruption of the supply would violate the existing contract.

“Sofia fulfills the obligations under the current contract with Gazprom,” he added.

He said: The gas supply to consumers is guaranteed for at least one month.
