Russia is in the process of expanding the production of civil passenger aircraft "MS-21"

Russia has begun building new production facilities at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in Eastern Siberia.

This is necessary to expand the serial production of MS-21 passenger aircraft. It is expected that serial production of these civil aircraft will begin in 2025.

Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev and General Director of RAO Russian United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar attended the construction of the new plants, and they said that the plant was expanding the production of the mechanical direction, the aircraft assembly line and other production facilities.

He recalled that the Irkutsk plant annually produces 36 aircraft. This number will increase to 72 civil aircraft after the development of production.

The general director of the aircraft manufacturing company added that his company is in the process of switching to Russian-made parts when assembling aircraft, after foreign companies stopped exporting their components.

It is noteworthy that the Russian-made BD-14 engine is one of the most important components of the above-mentioned aircraft. Last year, the company completed flight tests of a new engine, as well as a wing made of Russian-made composite materials.

Governor Igor Kobzev said that the process of expanding industrial production at the plant enjoys full state financial support.
