Russia Successful launch of a hypersonic missile from a frigate

On Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a successful launch “Zircon” hypersonic missile From the frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” in the White Sea in the north of Russia.

The ministry said that the hypersonic missile “Zircon” managed to hit a marine target at a distance of more than 400 km in the White Sea.

The ministry added in a statement that the Northern Fleet frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” carried out another fire, as part of the completion of the cycle of test hypersonic missiles.

About two months ago, The first hypersonic missile “Zirkon” tested by the Russian Navy was successful from a nuclear submarine. The Russian defense stated in its statement: The Russian Navy first tested the Tsirkon hypersonic missile aboard the “Severodvinsk” nuclear submarine and the launch was successfully carried out on a marine target in the waters of the Barents Sea.

In mid-August, US strategic command commander Charles Richard, speaking at the annual space defense symposium, acknowledged that Russian hypersonic technology poses a serious challenge to NATO.

According to him, the “Zirkon” missile system will provide the Russian Navy with an undeniable advantage in any possible armed naval conflict.
